New favorite thing to do on a rainy day is picking mushrooms.  Mainly finding oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus Ostreatus) on Alder trees.

I have stumbled upon a gem on this little island I now live on.  Here on Cortes Island is a small school called Linnaea.

The Linnaea Ecological Gardening Program offers a thorough grounding in a small-scale organic gardening and farming, with the intent to impart an understanding of the values and practical skills of ecological land stewardship.  Students come here for a full growing season March to October and work there assigned plot of land while attending classes  like herbology, wildcrafting, and woodworking.

The school and its students are really lovely.  I wanted to share this special place with you and some pictures too.  Please check out the website linnaeafarm.org  for more information.

Cortes Island may be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.  It has stunning beaches with gorgeous views of the mountains.  It has dense forest with abundant wildlife.

When we get the chance we love to explore this land.  When we are not discovering new territory we stay close to home and play in the garden.

These are some new photos of our Belwood Garden.

Out here in BC on Cortes Island there may be more deer then people.  Even as I post this there is one grazing outside my window.  One thing is certain these sweet deer love to munch on flowers.

They love the Cherry Blossom.
